Sequatchie Valley Institute is hosting their 7th annual Seed Share, and you’re invited!
When: Saturday, February 2nd, from 5:30-8:30 PM
Where: Gaining Ground, 55 East Main St, #102, Chattanooga
Bring: seeds and cuttings, slow food dish, beverages and ferments,
bring your own cup and plate,
friends from our food shed,
and an instrument if you want
Now in its 7th year, this seed sharing helps us develop hardy local cultivars. Please, no GMO seeds!
If you would like to make announcements to the group, you may speak before we start eating. See Jeannie Cerulean.

This sounds so fun! What is a slow food dish? And when you say bring seeds, can I just bring the seeds I have in packets that I use in my garden? (Non-GMO of course!)
A slow food dish is basically any dish that you prepared yourself- or by someone you know. Preferably it should have locally grown/produced ingredients. I am not sure about seed packets from your garden- but you should go ahead and bring them, and find Jeannie when you get there and she will answer your question. A “seed share” is traditionally with seeds you have saved from the year(s) before. But since that wasn’t clear on the invite, then possibly it could be any seeds, or how else would we even get started? Either way, you are welcome to come!
With the snow today/tonight is the event still going on???
Yes. It is supposed to warm up some this afternoon, and just be soggy and slushy….
